How We Analyze
Mouse Recordings
You need to know what you're looking for to get the most insight from mouse recordings. We start by getting answers for the questions you have or by finding problem areas of your site with analytics and then look through the specific recordings around that area.
We always want to come to data with a goal and/or question like:
How do people interact with your landing pages? Category pages?
What are people getting stuck on or don't notice?
Are they clicking the back button? (This could indicate confusion)
How do users interact on mobile, tablet, and desktop? How do they differ?
Note: We tag each watched recording for you so can easily find the issues we report on. If you have a plus or business account we make notes too.
Setting up heatmaps on your most important pages (in terms of revenue and traffic) and of any underperforming pages you feel might have usability issues.
We're not looking for the obvious clicks on buttons but for clicks on other elements of the page that aren't buttons.
With these 8 heatmap tests
we also combine heatmaps data with other behavioural data from HotJar to get a clearer picture of what's happening.
